Charter high schools are public high schools that may operate outside of a traditional school district. Charter schools are given the freedom to be innovative while being held accountable for fulfilling their mission. Additionally a program advisory committee comprised of local employers and industry experts periodically review and update curricula, equipment and laboratory design. ECA is considered innovative because it is a career-focused charter high school for grades 11 and 12 where students have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and an associate degree at no tuition cost to the student.
College level credits earned by ECA graduates pursuant to the articulation agreement with ITT Technical Institute are unlikely to transfer to another postsecondary educational institution.
Like all high schools the ECA meets the state and federal requirements of the Department of Education and the No Child Left Behind Act. In addition, it is also subject to oversight by an independent board and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
